Social Media Specialist

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for ensuring all social media-related services are fulfilled in keeping with local and international standards and internal product delivery timelines.  This position places emphasis on Social Media Management in addition to organizational communication, accuracy skills with attention to detail, as well as query/conflict resolution.  In addition, close monitoring and timely liaison amongst customers, external vendors/partners, and the Sales Consultants, to ensure efficient product delivery.

 EDUCATION, SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES AND SKILLS:

 

  •  Diploma in Marketing, Digital Media/Marketing, Information Technology, or Communications
  • Knowledge of and experience with various social media platforms including Meta, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Meta Business & Ads Manager, and other social media management tools.
  • Excellent knowledge of Social Media Management and Analytics Platforms.
  • Good understanding of performance metrics (social media, SEM, SEO and web traffic)
  • Ability to create various types of social media content (images, videos, gifs, etc.)
  • Photography, videography and editing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent copywriting skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently yet function well within a team environment.

 LEARNED DISCIPLINES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two or more years of working experience in a social media or digital media/marketing role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) or Canva.
  • Proficient with internet use and research.
  • Must work closely with various departments.
  • Must work to schedule and meet deadlines.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.

 Special Conditions Associated with the Job:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license & motor vehicle to meet with clients and vendors.
  • Hybrid arrangement (suitable work-from-home environment required.)
  • May be required to work on weekends and public holidays and outside of normal working hours.

 FUNCTIONS:

  •  Participate and successfully complete internal and vendor training as needed.
  • Complete all assigned Social Media Management projects as assigned by the Social Media Coordinator.
  • Build and execute social media strategies through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
  • Plan and execute strategic social media content and campaigns for new initiatives, events, and contests.
  • Create, implement, and manage social media ad campaigns.
  • Curate and create relevant content (artwork, captions, tags) and post on clients’ social media pages.
  • Create and analyze reports on social media campaigns and ad performance.
  • Participate in day-to-day hands-on community management of several social media channels by replying to questions and concerns, writing, and scheduling daily posts, etc.
  • Attend a variety of events (both during and after traditional work hours) to capture and/or create social media content.
  • Monitor tools, trends, and applications related to social media and digital marketing.
  • Monitor and follow up with customers to ensure the requisite feedback and approvals are received in keeping with established guidelines and timelines. 
  • Visit and/or call customers as required to ensure great customer service.
  • Collect content from customers for the fulfilment of orders as required.
  • Liaise with internal departments (IT, Publishing, Finance, etc.) as needed for fulfillment of orders.
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of all activities involving clients in the required systems.
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure proper upload of orders into vendor systems; make sure orders have been received and processed in a timely manner.
  • Escalate customer issues to the Social Media Coordinator when no solutions are readily available.
  • Any other task related to this area of business as deemed necessary by management.
