The Associate is required to assist in engaging a systematic approach to complete all projects, tasks, and duties to be performed in the department in a cost-efficient and timely manner.
The Associate will also be the intermediary between the Human Resources Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Collect, examine, and organise evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparations.
- Establish and organise legal files; monitor litigation and other calendars, general case monitoring.
- Prepare discovery requests.
- Communicate with employees to schedule meetings, interviews, and statements regarding disciplinary hearings, personal injury matters, and other related matters.
- Assist with the preparation of matters for disciplinary hearings
- Monitor all investigative and disciplinary hearings files.
- Prepare exhibits and take statements from witnesses for hearings and complaints.
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts.
- Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with preparing reports, case files, and legal advice.
- Manage billings by preparing, finalising, and sending out bills, resolving billing issues and ensuring payments are made timely and efficiently in cooperation with the Accounting Department.
- Manage, organise, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
- Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the department's calendars regarding the compliance date with all regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal commitments.
- Advising on employment matters.
- Collaborate with other department managers to develop the organisation’s policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance, or regulatory affairs.
- Prepare and file government reports.
- Actively participate in the hosting of training workshops.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with laws and best practices
- Undertaking system checks, risk assessment and the preparation of operating rules and procedural documentation.
SHARED DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Enhance disciplinary hearing procedure by organising evidence and participating in the
Hearing as a questioner/chairperson.
- Update job knowledge by participating in training and staying abreast of relevant
industry changes.
- Accomplish organisation goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and
different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Draft documents to assist with any conveyance transactions.
- Review and development of contracts.
- Assist with the monitoring and management of the company’s Intellectual Property
register
- Assist with the monitoring and management of the company’s asset register
- Perform any other related duties assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor of Laws Degree or its equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar position would be an asset.
- A current Food Handler’s Permit
