Senior Civil Engineer- 12 months

 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the Senior Civil Engineer is to provide civil engineering expertise during for project related works in various stages of development and engineering.

The position must show evidence of a sound understanding of civil engineering principles, designs and practices. In addition, the Senior Civil Engineer will work closely with the Lead Engineer to ensure that the applicable codes and standards are adhered to.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

1. Provides civil engineering expertise to the Lead Engineer and the project team during the

conduct of works. 

2. Conducts quality assurance reviews of deliverables ensuring that the design is safe and

conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as engineering best practices.

Deliverables include but are not limited to:

-       Civil Drawings (including demolition drawings where applicable)

  • Aboveground civil and structural details.
  • Underground civil and structural details.

-       Geotechnical reports

-       Civil foundation design calculations and structural design calculations.

-       Foundation plans.

-       Pile bearing capacities, where applicable.

-       Determination of the number and the pile sizes, where required, to support the

equipment and their associated foundations inclusive of pile length, allowable pile

tension, allowable pile horizontal load, minimum pile spacing.

3. Review of Scope of Works for various civil engineering type sub-contracts.

4. Participates in project review meetings e.g. constructability reviews.

5. Participates in Risk Assessments.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. UWI (BSc) Bachelor of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering

2. At least 10 years of Civil Engineering experience in a project/engineering design

environment.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Computer Literate.
  • Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Sound Interpersonal skills.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Good Project Management skills.
  • Good Problem solving and Decision-making analytical skills.
  • Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Proven experience in the understanding and interpreting technical specifications,engineering drawings and designs.
  • Proven experience in the understanding, interpreting, and applying relevant standards such as ASCE, ACI, ASTM, PCI, PIP etc.
