Job Summary

Plan, organize, supervise and participate in daily warehouse operation and activities, including the receipt, documentation, storage, safety and distribution of equipment and supplies and maintenance of inventory.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse and receiving mission in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of warehouse and receiving supervisor; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records and disciplines as necessary.
  • Develops team leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned crew members.
  • Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials.
  • Monitors the unloading of all materials into the receiving department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received.
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
  • Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry.
  • Oversees the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
  • Manage warehouse equipment i.e. vehicles, forklifts and gas, goods lift, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Manage warehouse maintenance issues.
    • Any other related duties assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Oversees the supplying of materials to fabrication and stages material for assembly and sub-assembly. Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
  • Oversees the rotation of inventories within the warehouse.
  • Monitors and measures receiving and warehouse performance for accuracy of locator, receiving reporting, movement and storage of material, and transfers to service parts.
  • Develops and recommends requirements for the warehouse and receiving department.
  • Identifying warehouse system improvements.
  • Moves inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouse; coordinating inventory transfers with related departments.
  • Delivers supplies and equipment to departments by receiving and transferring items.
  • Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
  • Maintains inventory by conducting monthly physical counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
  • Oversee off loading of containers in a timely manner.
  • Secures warehouse by turning alarms on; testing systems.
  • Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes warehouse and organization mission by completing any other related activities.

Lane Assignments:

  • Inspect warehouse facilities and equipment and recommend changes in allocation of space and packing procedures to senior supervisor.
  • Ensure all lanes are properly manned at all times.
  • Ensure all lane assignees perform their duties efficiently and adhere to all rules and procedures.

Housekeeping:

  • Ensure all subordinates keep their warehouse environs clean at all times.
  • Ensure the appearance of the physical packing and stocking of all items maintain an acceptable standard. Class items by brand.
  • Examine items to be moved, to ascertain approximate weight, and type of packing required.

Issuing of Goods:

  • Plan pickup and delivery schedule for truck drivers.
  • Ensure all procedures with respect to the issuing of goods are adhered to at all times.
  • No goods are to leave the warehouse without the relevant approved documents and signed off by the relevant dispatch checker/s.
  • Ensure the correct item/s leave the warehouse in an acceptable condition.
  • Encourage and support all efforts that promote efficiency and accountability in the issuing of goods.
  • Investigate customer complaints involving such matters as damaged items and delay in delivery and make necessary adjustments.

Qualifications/ Education:

  • BS Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration
  • Three (3) years experience in warehousing
  • Electrical knowledge will be an asset.
  • Inventory knowledge will be an asset.
