The incumbent will perform routine execution of quality control inspections, production process control inspections and quality control testing so as to ensure consumer satisfaction, product safety and product competitiveness.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support with maintenance and implementation of new/updated food safety and/or quality standards.
  • To ensure personal safety and that of team members during the execution of all functional responsibilities, by adhering to all HSE policies, procedures and guidelines and by supporting the identification and elimination of health and safety hazards throughout the operation.
  •  To ensure that requisite controls are adhered to for protection of the Company’s patents, product formulations and brand secrets during normal operations.
  •  To support the preservation of food safety and product excellence by adhering to all food safety and quality management policies, procedures and guidelines and supporting the identification and elimination related hazards through our operation.
  • To consistently review online product attributes and quality control records as required to ensure adherence to defined product quality standards and capture of non-conformance.
  • To ensure that all products awaiting final release, placed on hold for re-inspection or confirmed as non-conforming, are properly labelled, and quarantined to prevent accidental release to the trade.
  •  To support the production team in the making of timely decisions related to equipment cleaning and product preservation, such that production may be resumed as quickly as possible after execution of maintenance interventions.
  • To ensure that inventory management systems are adhered to such that appropriate cleaning chemicals and lab testing agents/materials are always available for daily use in the operation. And to immediately flag any potential shortages which may negatively impact the operation.
  • To support the QHSE Manager in the address of all internal and external customer complaints or non-conformances associated with products supplied via contract packaging operations.
  • To proactively communicate any possible risks to the timely satisfaction of production schedules so that contingency plans can be developed.

             To proactively work with Production team to:

  •  Ensure that formulations are adhered to during batching and mixing operations.
  •  Ensure that process control parameters are continuously monitored during production and that any observed deviations are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Communicates any potential loss of process control activities immediately to permit timely decision-making, thereby minimizing losses.
  • Seek opportunities to improve the efficiency of the lab operation and value-added activities geared toward cost savings.

 

Position Requirements:  

  • Natural Sciences University Degree or Certification as a Laboratory Technician
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferable in a quality control function
  • Certification in Quality Management/ Quality Engineering or Microbiology or work within a food manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
