Aero Demin Operator

This position is responsible for ensuring the adequate generation of electricity at the Power Station by carefully monitoring the water quality of boilers and gas turbines.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for ensuring the adequate generation of electricity at the Power Station by carefully monitoring the water quality of boilers and gas turbines.

ELEMENTS OF MAJOR DUTIES

1. Monitors chemical levels from boiler, gas turbine cooling and process water samples.
2. Carries out isolation and tagging of plant equipment for safe maintenance work.
3. Carries out pre-startup, start up on line and shut down operating procedures as per standards.
4. Analyze water samples from Water treatment plant.
5. Monitors brine, caustic and acid concentration levels at the chemical station.
6. Monitors effluent streams and settling ponds.
7. Calculates water production.
8. Reverses osmosis plant running time and storage tank levels.
9. Receives bulk deliveries of acids and caustics and other plant process chemicals.
10. Checks gray and well raw supply on a regular basis.
11. Monitors raw and process water tank levels and provides feedback to the Shift Supervisor.
12. Monitors automatic control and when necessary, operate Demin Plant system manually.
13. Carries out routine and preventative maintenance such as inspections PM’s tightening, lubrication and adjustments.
14. Carries out watch station duties at other watch stations other than the Water Treatment plant as directed by the Shift Supervisor. Examples of these watch stations includes: Gas turbines, fuel, steam plant and DCS room.
15. Does housekeeping of regular work areas.

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES/EXPERIENCE

1. Tertiary diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
2. Good communication and interpersonal skills
3. At least one (1) year experience in water quality control, maintenance of equipment and basic office procedures
4. Knowledge of boiler, turbines and their auxiliaries
