The Accountant will be required to provide support to the Finance Management Team and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the Manager Finance. Additionally, assume responsibility of the Finance Team in the absence of the Finance Manager.
  • Represent the Company at meetings held at the Central Bank of Trinidad & Tobago or as required from time to time.
  • Provide Leadership and Mentoring to subordinates.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of the Finance Management reports as required (weekly, monthly yearly)
  • Assist with the coordination and timely completion of the Interim and Final Financial Audits of the Company Group.
  • Assist with the coordination and timely completion of reports required by any stakeholder group.
  • Supervise the Finance Audits of the Company's Branches and Online Agencies in the absence of the Finance Specialists
  • Prepare and/or review Audit Schedules.
  • Review of Bank Reconciliations along with the Finance Specialists.
  • Prepare, review and/or approve electronic bank transfers as required.
  • Authorize Journal, Cheque Payment Vouchers and Bank Transfer Requisitions
  • Manage the Company's cash flow requirements which will include the management of the Company’s receivable balances.
  • Assist with the integration of the finance department operations and processes across parent and subsidiary companies.
  • Recommend and/or take disciplinary action(s) for any breach of Company policy.
  • Review of the Finance Operational Manual on an annual basis with recommendations to improve team efficiencies.
  • Recommend development areas for the Finance Team and the individual team members.
  • Attend training programmes identified by the Finance Management Team as it relates to the development of the role.
  • Adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Any other related duties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Qualification – ACCA or equivalent,
  • At least three (3) years of Accounting experience in a financial institution
  • Equivalent combination of experience and qualification

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent analytical skills are essential
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
