The Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited invites applications for the position of “SHIFT ENGINEER”.


JOB PURPOSE

The successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that the maintenance and repair of the Corporation's equipment is executed proficiently and up to the required quality standards. He/ She will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to planned maintenance schedules, which include preventative and predictive maintenance, to improve the consistency of equipment availability within the Corporation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Develops, manages and oversees the Asset Integrity Programme specific to the Corporation’s equipment.

Works closely with operations personnel in the development of robust engineering solutions to address repetitive failures and other issues that can adversely affect equipment availability.

Develops and coordinates an annual Equipment Reliability Programme inclusive of budgets and activities to ensure alignment and achievement of the department’s KPIs.

Conducts the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process and consistently ensures results are communicated and standards updated with remedial and follow-up action.

Compares equipment, individual mechanical components and manufacturing processes to determine the most reliable and fail-safe system.

Estimates length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work, communicating these required timescales to operations personnel.

Assists with the development of Maintenance schedules and forecasting and ensures adherence to these schedules to achieve or improve the department’s KPIs.

Develops the inspection criteria and functionality tests to monitor equipment health.

Ensures the use of the Corporation’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to assist in analysing and communicating operational data and equipment performance history.

Analyses statistical data to assist with predicting when and how failures may occur.

Trains, mentors and provides guidance to personnel where required.

Contributes to the development of the Department’s annual budget.

Supervises staff and conducts annual performance evaluations as and when required.

Keeps current with developing engineering trends regarding equipment maintenance and makes recommendations to improve the Corporation’s PPM.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:     

BSc. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

ISO 55001: 2014 (E) and Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certificate would be considered assets.

 

Experience:                     

A minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience relative to equipment maintenance.

 

Certification and Licences:

Valid Driver’s Permit (Class 3).

Current Defensive Driving Certification would be an asset.

Certificate of Good Character dated within six (6) months.


Required Testing:   

The successful candidate will be required to undergo the following:

A full Medical Examination (inclusive of substance testing) to establish fitness for the position.

A Psychometric Assessment.

 

Required Working Hours:   

The successful candidate will be required to work on a shift basis.

 

Physical Requirements:

Lifting heavy objects from time to time.

Bending or stooping for long periods of time.

Climbing heights.

Working for an extended period of time in a standing position.

Working in confined spaces from time to time.

 

Knowledge:                     

Advanced working knowledge of asset management, preliminary hazards analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, maintainability information.  HSE Policies and Procedures and safe working practices. Strong knowledge of CMMS (Maximo preferred).  Knowledge of relevant ISO standard.

 

Skills:

Analytical thinking, technical aptitude, problem solving, project management, strong communication, networking and influencing skills. Sound time management skills. Detailed-oriented, highly organized and self-motivating, flexible.  Planning and Scheduling Skills.

 

Abilities:

Ability to multi-task, to work well within a team. Ability to develop sound internal and external relationships.
