Financial Controller (Hospitality Sector) 

Overview: Our client has a global reputation for providing luxury holiday accommodation of the highest standard to tourists from all over the world seeking the ultimate premium tourist experience. Due to growth, they are seeking to apoint a proven “number cruncher” to add to the team based in Barbados..

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Management of cost control, night audit, and overal hotel accounting. 
  • Undertaking continual financial review of operational departments to ensure departmental profitability and cost tracking
  • Managing all accounting operations including billing, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition
  • Setting of and management against accounting controls and approval processes in coordination with the General Manager
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of yearly budget implementation, financial forecasts and periodically reporting variances against budgets
  • Prepare financial reports and statements on a monthly basis for presentation to directors.
  • Cash flow management to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial information by performing a variety of controls and functions
  • Compliance with statutory reporting requirements and tax filings including management of audits
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ongoing management of the accounting team

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of  3 - 5 years experience in a similar role in hospitality or hotel environments
  • 5 years combined accounting and finance experience at a similar level
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Achieved ACCA or Equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of inventory, cost control and night audit
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an aptitude for leadership and team development
  • Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated business planning and forecasting
