Our client in the Financial Sector is seeking to hire an Accountant for their POS office.

Location: Port of Spain

Salary range: $17,000.00 - $18,600.00



Job Summary:

To support financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data.


Job Requirements:

  • Contribute positively to ensure that the client’s overall strategic business plan targets are met
  • Ensure risk perspective, due diligence, due process, due regard, duty of care, return on time, quality assurance and compliance guides all actions
  • Deliver WOW service to clients:
    • Projects a favorable and professional image at all times, maintaining loyalty and respect for the client.
    • Providing superior quality customer service to ensure that the client’s customers are satisfied and therefore recommend our service to their family members, friends and business partners/colleagues
  • Provide strategic and advisory support to the Leadership team by:
    • Engaging in financial planning
    • Participating in the strategic planning process
    • Building and maintaining strategic networks
    • Assist in preparation of annual budgets
  • Prepare monthly financial statements by:
    • Collecting data
    • Analyzing and investigating variances
    • Summarizing data and
    • Identifying trends
  • Supervise all accounting processes by:
    • Managing Accounts Payables function
    • Managing Accounts Receivables function
    • Maintaining chart of accounts
    • Verify and post journal entries.
    • Reviewing general ledger accounts regularly
    • Reviewing and verifying all bank reconciliations
    • Closing accounts monthly
    • Monitoring expenditure compliance to approved budget.
  • Analyze and forecast the client’s operating cashflow by:
    • Preparing monthly operating expenditure cashflow Monitoring operating bank accounts to ensure liquidity
    • Monitoring receivables
    • Monitor and implement all accounts payable cheque preparation, ach and wire transactions.
    • Administer all bank transactions and oversee data recording procedures monthly.
  • Ensure the Company’s statutory obligations are honoured by:
    • Verifying corporation tax quarterly payments for accuracy
    • Verifying accuracy of National Insurance Contributions
    • Verifying accuracy of PAYE calculations
    • Ensuring payments are submitted within required deadlines
    • Assist in timely completion of annual tax returns by providing information and supporting documents as requested
  • Support Company compliance with The Securities Industry Act by:
    • Preparing monthly reports
    • Preparing quarterly reports
    • Submission of Semi-Annual and Annual Reports
  • Responds to financial queries by:
    • Gathering and analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data
  • Assist with the timely completion of audits by:
    • Providing information and supporting documentation as requested during internal and external audits.
    • Design and prepare audit schedules for external audit.
  • Enhance the capacity of your team by:
    • Guiding, coaching and motivating team members in all aspects of their performance as the contribute to the efficient operation of the division
    • Providing ongoing feedback to subordinates on their performance
    • Identifying performance gaps and devising strategies to close same
  • Perform any related duties that may arise from time to time

Job Qualifications:

  • ACCA Qualified
  • 5 years’ progressive experience in the field of Accounting

Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of accounting procedures, principles and related legislation
  • Thorough knowledge of financial system and their inter-relationships with departmental accounting operations
  • Strong mathematical and numerical competences
  • Knowledge of spread-sheets and accounting database software
