Primary Objective

• Performs ultrasounds of patients of all ages under the clinical supervision of the Radiologist.
• Works under the direction of and is supervised by the Radiology Manager /Consultant Radiologist.
• Required to respond whenever necessary to the Radiology Manager/ Radiologist on matters relating to work in progress.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasound equipment in order to capture images that describe the composition, shape and motion of tissues, organs and liquid buildup.
• Analyzes the captured images and identify variations between healthy and imperfect areas and include same in the report to be forwarded to the physician.
• Summarizes the technical inferences and forward same to the physician.
• Ensures that the images produced by the equipment are clear for the diagnosis.
• Establishes protocols/standards for the number of images to be acquired for the relevant organs/lesions/studies.
• Ensures all images are archived in PACS.
• Supervises the ultrasound staff (e.g. Medical Assistant) in their various duties in the department.
• Enforces quality control standards.
• Assists patients in preparation for the procedure.
• Assists with moving of patients to the examination table
• Adequately explains the examination process to the patients
• Prepares the skin by application of gel before using the equipment.
• Ensures the patient's comfort level is maintained during the examination.
• Maintains records for patients for future reference.
• Write preliminary reports and reports are signed off by the Radiologist.
• Performs on-call services
