The Pipe Yard Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Pipe Yard and the activities required in a safe and responsible manner.

Roles & Responsibilities

General

• Responsible for ensuring materials received correspond with delivery paperwork and that any discrepancies are investigated.

• Ensure requests for materials are received, located, properly actioned in accordance with procedures and the materials system is updated accordingly.

• Arrange transport for the movements in and out of the Pipe Yard; Abnormal loads are to be moved in conjunction with the appropriate method statements, lifting plans in accordance with the GLP.

• Deal with any queries regarding material from offshore and onshore engineers, checking if back loaded pipes are damaged etc.

• Ensure stock accuracy by helping undertake regular stock checks with Inventory Coordinator.

• Supervise operations for both, Crane, Pipe Handler and Forklift trucks with the required capacity in full compliance with the designated task and applicable safe systems of work, speed limitations and HSE standards.

• Ensure that all Dangerous Good are checked against the IMDG guidelines.

• Daily Crane, Pipe Handler and Forklift checks are carried out in conjunction with legislative requirements.

• Report all safety related issues and to monitor compliance with HSE standards in all working areas.

• Keep control and maintain full Inventory of tools and equipment at the Pipe Yard for safe keeping.

• Allocate work schedules to subordinates to ensure that optimum efficiency is met to provide safe reliable service.

• Ensure all materials are managed in the most optimum effective manner regarding receiving, storage, preservation, delivery and issuing.

• Ensure basic welfare is in place for sub-ordinates.

• Ensure all personnel competence levels are monitored and evaluated continually.

• Continually coach, motivate and identify training needs for all personnel.

• Train the workforce and progress their learning and working capabilities by setting standards to be met.

• Ensure all Heavy equipment are maintained and that planned maintenance programs are complied with and monitored through records. Report any discrepancies or non-conformances.

• Ensure all required QA/QC standards are fully understood and complied with by all personnel.

• Continually monitor working practices and bring new learning or methods of best practice to effect with slinging and handling of tubulars.

• Attend and participate in daily safety toolbox talks.

• Ensure good housekeeping standards are set and adhered to within the Pipe Yard.

• Continually support and adhere to and promote the HSE principles and the GLP.

• Supervise Pipe Washing, Drifting, Inspections, Tallying and other additional services rendered at the Wash Bay.

• Supervise packing of drilling accessories for loadout.

• Ensure Contractors are set up and aligned to perform their operations at the Wash Bay within ASCO standards.

• Adhere to proper handling practices for storing and preparing Chrome Tubular.

• Supervise slinging of pipe for offshore loadouts and removing of slings from backloads.

• Prepare SBRF's, Pipe Wash Report, Activity Report and any other required report for ASCO or CLIENT for the Pipe Yard on a daily basis.

• Prepare Space Utilisation Report for the Pipe Yard on a weekly basis.

• Prepare Man Hours report for the Pipe Yard on a monthly basis.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 CXC passes including Mathematics and English

• Tertiary level certificate or Three (3) years' experience in a similar position in the Oil & Gas, Supply Chain or Logistics Industries

• 10-20T Counterbalance Fork-Lift Certificate

• Rigging and Lifting Certificate

• EAL Competency Assessment Certificate

• Pipe Inspection Certificate

• Appointed Persons/LTA Certificate

• Knowledge of OCTG, Completions, Liner Hangers and Well Heads

• Clean Certificate of Character

 

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

• Tubular Handling and Preparation

• Sound Knowledge of Preservation Practices for different types of material

• Sound Knowledge of Tubular Variances and Thread Connections

• Oil Spill Awareness

• Manual handling

• Excellent Organisational skills

• Maintains positive work relationships

• Considerable experience in Pipe Yard supervision

• Rigging and slinging practices and basic rigging skills

• Very good understanding of Crane and Forklift operations and limitations

• Knowledge of stock control basis procedures and processes

• Sound knowledge of company HSE policies and standards

• Good management capabilities and able to motivate

• Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English language

• Computer literate in MS word, excel and outlook

• Proven ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams

• Able to improve processes

• Well-developed skills in communications and leadership

• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

• Ability to work unsupervised and make effective decisions in a fast-changing environment

• Physically fit, ability to lift 50lbs, traverse ladders, able to function outdoors in the hot sun

HSEQ

• In partnership with the HSE department, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.

• Reports all incidents or breaches of policy or regulations to the line manager.

• Fully endorse the ASCO ‘Stop the Job’ policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.

• Adherence to the ASCO’s integrated management system ensuring document control and improvements to key processes is maintained.

• Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner, always complies with HSEQ procedures, GLP, working instructions and safety standards.

• Act as Emergency Warden when necessary
