A Vacancy exists for the following Position: Restaurant Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: training and supervising of restaurant staff. This includes servers, bartenders and cashiers. The Restaurant Manager will also be actively involved in the recruit and retention of new staff for the Restaurant.

Expectations:

Suitable candidate must have exceptional communication skills and should be able to convey information to guests, staff and other managers in a timely and professional manner. He or she must be able to positively motivate and encourage team members. He or she will be expected to ensure that a positive dining experience is maintained for all customers.

Suitable candidate is expected to present accurate and timely reports regarding staff and general business which will aid other heads of departments in the smooth running of general operations. He or she will also be expected to assist with marketing and promotion of the Restaurant / Food & Beverage Department. In addition to the entire Food and Beverage Department, he or she will also be expected to work in collaboration with the Human Resource, Reservations, Front Office, Accounting, Marketing and Maintenance Departments.

Applicants must possess the following:
  • A degree in Restaurant / Hospitality Management.
  • Five CXC Subjects with passes at Grade 3 level for Mathematics and English.
  • Three years' Managerial experience in the Food Service Industry or related field.
  • Computer literate: Ability to operate basic Applications such as Microsoft word and Excel.
  • Ability to operate and experience in Micros or other point of sale systems.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as printers, copiers, telephones, calculators etc.
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly and communicate effectively with management, guests and line staff.
  • Must be able to get involved in budgeting, cost control, maximizing profitability and financial planning. Basic math skills are necessary, and familiarity with financial reports is beneficial.
  • Effective problem solving, multitasking and stress management skills and ability to work under pressure, alone and in a group.
  • Must have keen knowledge and training on HASSAP and other food Safety regulations and ensure that all regulations are kept and the restaurant is compliant with all standards.
  • Must be able to work with and have a general understanding of all other departments within the Hotel Industry and how they operate.
  • Must be able to create staff schedules, effectively maintain labor cost and track restaurant inventory. Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep information in an orderly manner is essential.
  • Must be able to coordinate the change and creation of food and drink menus and ensure that quality is maintained.
  • Must be able to actively participate in the planning and executing of annual activities
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to understand, clarify and resolve concerns and issues raised by associates and guests in a timely manner with a positive outcome for all.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours and alternate days due to the nature of the Hotel Industry and in an effort to meet deadlines.
