Overview

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority invites applicants for the position of Head of Marketing based in Saint Lucia. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, this senior manager will lead the development and implementation of the Authority's marketing strategy including developing and leading the marketing team. The specific duties for this position are outlined below:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Direction
1. Participates in the development of the Authority's strategic plan.
2. Monitors and reports on the implementation of the strategic plan as it relates to marketing activities.
3. Advises the Chief Executive Officer on industry changes affecting the Authority's strategies.

Marketing Plan
1. Develops an annual marketing plan that takes into account visitor requirements, potential opportunities and likely competition.
2. Prepares an annual work programme and budget to implement the annual plan.
3. Ensures effective implementation of the work programme within the budget.

Development of Marketing Intelligence
1. Works in collaboration with the Strategy, Planning and Research staff to develop effective methods for collecting and analyzing visitor information.
2. Undertakes research and analysis to identify new and emerging trends in the industry, track Saint Lucia's performance and compare it with that of competing destinations.
3. Communicates useful market intelligence with policymakers, local operators and investors.
4. Prepares reports that describe trends, opportunities and challenges in the industry and provide strategic responses.

Development of Marketing and Sales Campaigns
1. Oversees the development and implementation of marketing and sales campaigns and promotions.
2. Works collaboratively with technology staff, advertising agencies, travel agents and regional sales staff to design appropriate marketing platforms, tools and promotional material.
3. Plans and organizes the Authority's participation in trade shows, conferences and similar activities.
4. Prepares regular reports on marketing activities, including evaluation of marketing campaigns.
5. Represents the Authority locally, regionally and internationally.

Brand Leadership
1. Leads efforts to ensure that public and private sector stakeholders in the tourism industry present a consistent image of Saint Lucia in their marketing campaigns.
2. Works with the Product Development Departments at the relevant Ministries and agencies, to ensure that the product continues to meet the image presented of Saint Lucia in marketing campaigns.

Supervision
1. Establishes annual performance objectives with staff; meets with them periodically to discuss their performance; counsels them on performance efficiencies and guides them on improving performance, including recommending additional training.
2. Conducts appraisals of employee performance.
3. Coordinates the work of staff and reviews their work to ensure that it meets the Authority's standards.
4. Makes recommendations to management regarding salary increases, promotions and disciplinary action for employees supervised.

General
1. To generally assist in the work of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and undertake other duties which may be required from time to time and as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications/Experience:
• Master's Degree in Marketing, or Business Administration or Bachelor's Science Degree in Marketing or Business Administration plus a post-graduate diploma.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in marketing, experience in tourism-related marketing will be an asset; a minimum of five years of experience in a management level position.
• Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and relevant computer software;
• Understanding of visitor needs and the tourism industry - extensive knowledge of products and services in Saint Lucia.
• Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness.
• Professional work ethic to project a strong brand image of the Authority and St. Lucia.

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
