The Maintenance Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of stores.

PURPOSE OF JOB 

The Maintenance Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the Convenience Store, Gas Station, Corporate Offices and its surrounding areas to ensure aesthetically pleasing, hygienic and safe environment for all customers and staff.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Sweeping, vacuuming, steaming, mopping, dusting, sanitizing and maintaining the Convenience Store, Gas Station and Corporate Office and its restrooms.
  • Cleaning the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls
  • Performing minor repairs, such as fixing broken fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and unclogging toilets.
  • Ensuring that supplies, such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper, are well-stocked.
  • Maintaining cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed
  • Taking out the trash, recycling, and cleaning the exterior of the store and corporate offices.
  • Disinfecting commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones
  • Maintaining outdoor grounds, cut grass and trim bushes.
  • Removing debris from sidewalks.
  • Washing and clean windows and mirrors.
  • Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions.
  • Operate equipment including floor scrubbers, brush cutters, surface cleaning, pressure washers etc.
  • Monitoring the store to ensure that it is safe and secure, reporting any safety hazards to the appropriate authorities.
  • Complete task assigned in a timely manner according to checklist.
  • The duties and responsibilities may vary based on location assigned and business needs. 

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS 

The ideal candidate should be reliable, physically fit, able to work independently, and have good customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of safety guidelines when working with chemical cleaners.
  • Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Certified Technical/vacation training.
  • Experienced with maintenance and performing janitorial/handyman duties.
  • Ability to clean and disinfect various surfaces.
  • Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Physical dexterity and manual ability.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability to work on call, including weekends and evenings.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to read and write.
