The Senior Manager, Non-Financial Risk & ERM will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the Enterprise Risk Management Framework throughout the Group; identifying, measuring, monitoring and tracking operational and other non-financial risks; and supporting the product development process with risk management, operational and information technology related subject-matter expertise.

 

The incumbent responsibilities are:

  • Manage the Enterprise Risk Assessment process to identify, measure and prioritize the key risks throughout the organization
  • Track the progress of control improvement opportunities for top risks, ensure their effectiveness, and update the corresponding risk measurements.
  • Provide effective challenge to the risk owners regarding the efficacy of planned or executed improvements of controls for the various risks.
  • Manage the development and/or update of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the major risks of the organizations
  • Monitor trends in the various KRIs to identify emerging risks and, along with risk owners, determine the appropriate management response. 
  • Monitor the business and organizational environment for emerging risks and conduct the required assessments, scenario analyses, and required prioritization
  • Evaluate the need, cost, impact and required priority of major projects required to keep top risks within desired appetite; with respect to key strategic objectives
  • Design, manage and/or deploy tools to prioritize operational and Information Technology related strategic and remedial projects.
  • Lead the continuous development and deployment of the New Products, Initiatives, or Material Business Change (NIPC) Risk Assessment tool to evaluate major initiatives and form the basis for initiative approval, rejection, or conditional approval. This includes determining the relevant action items required to improve the risk/return trade-off and communicating the results and its implications to Senior Management and other key stakeholders
  • Provide support to the Business Process Reengineering project and other projects that improve controls or otherwise reduce operational risk
  • Support the Agile product development processes throughout the Group through strategic involvement as the risk management subject matter expert. This includes design of effective NIRA processes at strategic points throughout the life cycle to effectively identify risk and ensure the appropriate actions, while facilitating rapid building and deployment.
  • Support the model validation process within the Group
  • Maintaining and updating the various ERM Risk Policies and review operational risk related policies prior to approval.
  • Preparation of Management Committee and Board Reporting
  • Use data, information, and analysis from existing risk management processes to provide value-added insights to business lines where possible
  • Ensure the effective management of models, tools, processes and databases that support the production of risk reports
  • Provide process and technical guidance for distributed tools that support the ERM process.
  • Develop and administer non-financial risk and governance training for various stakeholders within the Group
  • Manage, train and develop direct report and other junior staff members
  • Build the bench strength of the unit by facilitating cross-training and other development and skill-building initiatives
  • Lead and/or support key regulatory initiatives related to non-financial risk
  • Support Information Technology projects that involve risk management
  • Prepare Ad hoc risk analysis where required
  • Any other duties assigned
Education/Experience
    • First Degree in Applied Science, Operations Research, Finance, or related disciplines
    • Master Degree in Enterprise Risk Management or disciplines above

    OR

    • FRM designation (or relevant equivalent)
    • Minimum ten (5) years’ experience in fields of either or a combination of risk management, operations, or information technology
    • Minimum five (3) years’ experience in a managerial or other leadership capacity. 
    Competencies 
    • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Working knowledge of risk management principles
    • Excellent knowledge of operational process and information technology
    • Strong model building and data management skills
    • Strong knowledge of the regulations and policies governing financial institutions (BOJ and FSC).
    • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
