The incumbent will be responsible for accurately preparing and processing the Company’s payrolls (monthly, fortnightly, and weekly), statutory payments, and reconciling various salary related accounts on a timely basis.

 

JOB DUTIES

General Accounting:

  • Verifies accuracy of daily point-of-sale transactions and associated reports and/or documentation.
  • Review and liaise with Lead Cashiers/Cashiers to ensure resolution of discrepancies.
  • Post Purchase Order Returns for assigned stores within the required timeframe.
  • Assist with posting Operating Supplies store transfer with a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist Junior Accountant with monthly Operating Expense analysis reports for circulation to Department Heads Visits stores, to ensure adherence of team members to the Company’s established accounting procedures.
  • Leads or assists with other special projects as assigned.

 Payroll Functions:

  • Prepares and processes monthly, fortnightly, and weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepares monthly gross salaries reconciliation for submission with payroll summary and reports for approval.
  • Journalizes all payroll entries into the general ledger.
  • Reconciles all salary related accounts, including but not limited to salaries, and salary deductions etc.
  • Ensures that all statutory deductions are forwarded to the relevant authorities in the appropriate time frame.
  • Prepares monthly PAYE reconciliation for annual TD4 preparation and annual TD4 slips for all staff and summary for BIR.
  • Compiles and prepares various salary reports as requested.
  • Assists all staff with payroll and statutory deduction queries.
  • Liaises with Financial Institutions, NIB, BIR, Insurance Brokers, Auditors and Group Companies.
Other Duties:
  • Undertake general administrative duties as required, including but not limited to, maintaining all relevant reports, spreadsheets, and files, in keeping with the Company’s policies and standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) CXC O’ Level passes including Mathematics, English and Accounts.
  • Pursuing ACCA certification, account degree or any equivalent degree.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software.
  • Working knowledge of Micro Pay.
  • Sound knowledge of the National Insurance Scheme; PAYE and Health Surcharge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with knowledge of payroll software packages.
