The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for shift coverage and must be experienced with maintenance and repair in all areas of the hotel such as guest rooms, banquet and meeting rooms, public areas and washrooms, kitchen and laundry.

Position Summary

 

The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for shift coverage and must be experienced with maintenance and repair in all areas of the hotel such as guest rooms, banquet and meeting rooms, front of house spaces such as public areas and washrooms, and back of house spaces including kitchen and laundry. Candidates must possess strong skills in electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems with a minimum of 5 years building maintenance experience in hospitality preferred, including life-safety systems. Ability to read blueprints and schematics and competent using MS Office, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service skills and the ability to lead teams successfully, are strong attributes required for this position. This position requires one to work different shifts as the demands of business dictates.

  • Inspect spaces routinely to identify required maintenance and repair works.
  • Coordinate in-house and external teams to carry out necessary maintenance and repair work to keep spaces and equipment looking and working at a high standard.
  • Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads.
  • Oversee all repairs and ensure that work is completed satisfactorily and on time with follow-up as needed.
  • Maintain all spare parts inventory and ensure proper storage.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site.
  • Manage all preventative maintenance and repair work orders using a CMMS.
  • Conduct safety inspections as scheduled.
  • Establish strategies to meet workload demands.
  • Manage hourly engineering employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching and evaluating.
  • Assists management in direct oversight of department's daily operation.
  • Participates in assigned long-term preventative maintenance programs and projects.
  • Supervises maintenance and operation of engineering equipment, apparatuses, and systems, ensuring they operate as specified by the manufacturers.
  • Assigns and supervises work required of the Engineering Department.
  • Trains and develops team members.
  • Ensures reports are prepared and submitted as requested by management.
  • Complete various additional tasks and assignments as needed.

 

Maintenance Supervisor Requirements and Qualifications

 

  • Diploma in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years working in a supervisory position in building maintenance or manufacturing operation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical skills in various building trades - including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and interior finishes – such as gypsum walls and ceilings construction, painting, wallpaper, flooring – carpet, vinyl and porcelain tiling, wall trim and skirting.
  • Practical and hands-on experience with hand tools and equipment.
  • Sound understanding and ability to uphold health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Effective team leading skills and team performance management.
  • Great organizational and leadership skills.
  • Great eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related communication tools.
  • Great time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
