Quality Assurance Manager (Gaming Software)


Overview:

Our client is an international videogame business based in Barbados. the Caribbean. They provide functional, compatibility and compliance testing services for videogame developers and publishers in Europe and North America across PC, console, and mobile videogames. Due to rapid growth, they are seeking a proven QA Manager with solid gaming experience to join the team. Relocation assistance available for successful applicants.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the QA Director in establishing effective and efficient QA solutions for clients.

 

  • Setting up QA processes, workflows and tools as well as building, hiring, training and managing QA teams based on our clients’ requirements and expectations.

 

  • Collaborate with QA Project Managers and QA Leads to accomplish assigned QA tasks effectively within scheduled timeline and with a high level of quality.
  • Assist in identifying new testing tools, solutions, and debug options to maximize test efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain QA resource schedule, test plans and guidelines for assigned project(s).
  • Design, plan, schedule and facilitate programs, workshops and demos that will add to QA staff development & upskill.
  • Provide ongoing project(s) risk analysis and carry out QA audits.  
  • Help administrate and maintain QA hardware, tools, documentation, and test accounts.
  • Demonstrate transparency and active communication with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Drive the adoption of reporting standards and templates.
  • Recommend QA KPIs/metrics and implement dashboards to visualize team(s) performance and project(s) health status.
  • Run QA oriented retrospective/post-mortem meetings and inform team members on new action items.
  • Flag gaps in project’s test strategy and opportunities to improve existing processes and test methods/techniques.
  • Train, mentor and facilitate regular 121 meetings with direct reports.
  • Develop and foster strong partnerships with existing and new clients. Act as main point of contact for assigned project(s).
  • Evaluate and improve recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Conduct interviews with QA staff applicants. 

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • 6+ years of QA experience in games industry with minimum 3 years of managerial/lead level experience.
  • Expert understanding of software QA and games development practices and terminology.
  • Experience in resource management, including hiring and career management.
  • Excellent communication, risk analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams, mentor individuals and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of Functionality, Compliance and Compatibility QA processes and best practices.
  • Familiarity with various game engines, platforms, SDKs, and dev/test tools.
  • Great working knowledge of most common bug tracking databases (e.g., JIRA) and test management software (e.g., TestRail).
  • Robust initiative and ability to pro-actively self-manage.
  • ISTQB or equivalent certifications
  • Expert knowledge of certification requirements for major console platform holders such as Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.
  • Previous experience managing large test teams and/or multiple substantial game projects.
  • Familiarity with mobile and VR testing.
  • Experience with Live Ops and Games-as-a-service projects.
  • Experience with continuous testing and test automation.
  • Knowledge of programming (e.g., C#/C++) and scripting (Python) languages.
