Our Client, NCB Merchant Bank (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited, is seeking to fill the position of Head - Corporate & Investment Banking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible to meet the bank’s approved strategy / plan to facilitate achievement of related short- and long-term business goals in the most effective and efficient manner according to the supervision and direction of the CEO
  • Originate corporate & investment banking opportunities in Trinidad & Tobago and regionally
  • Syndicate issues, and arrange syndicated loan clubs for opportunities that the bank is arranging or acting as a joint Book Runner
  • Champion deal management from the point of origination to final execution
  • Track the respective approval processes (internal, external and regulatory) to achieve timely transaction execution
  • Develop and submit proposals in accordance with internal requirements
  • Liaise with the client, Group Risk, Group Legal  and the CEO to resolve issues relating to the processing of the facility proposal 
  • Take an active role in the bank’s fund raising strategies
  • Consistently review the business climate and analyzes developments in the business environment which will impact the sales of products and services of the bank
  • Research and evaluate potential investment opportunities, both qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Follow leads and prospects for potential opportunities
  • Receive and review requests for opportunities that have been referred
  • Engage prospective clients to determine their needs and identify the appropriate solutions for their businesses
  • Support the collections and debt recovery teams in minimizing the level of loan delinquency
  • Represent the Bank in regional and local financial community, industry groups, key customers, businesses, regulators, and the general public to enhance the Bank’s reputation and corporate presence in the local and regional market
  • Build the Corporate and Investment banking team by managing and monitoring the employee performance, career development

  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline such as Business Administration or Accounting and 3 years proven experience as a Manager in Investment Banking post MBA

OR

  • A first degree in a related field and a minimum of – eight years of proven investment banking experience with a financial institution, preferably at a managerial level in a client-facing capacity
  • Any of the following would be considered an asset:
    • CFA charter
    • Prior experience conducting business in other countries or territories, including Guyana

  

The Job Holder should have knowledge and understanding of the following:

  • General business and corporate cultures
  • The legal and regulatory operating framework governing the financial services sector, more specifically the respective Financial Institutions Act and the Securities Industry Act.
  • NCB’s Values, strategic direction, objectives and operating philosophy
  • Sound knowledge of financial transactions and corporate and investment banking services
  • Financial markets and risk & pricing analysis
  • Digest in understanding of Central Bank’s regulation and international practices
  • Previous knowledge of Risk and/or Corporate Sector business processes
  • Corporate and commercial credit structuring
  • Practical knowledge of corporate finance
  • Experience working with, and a basic understanding of, numerical data and conducting quantitative analyses related to company valuations, implementation of financial models, and comparative and pro forma analyses
  • Experience in credit analysis and understanding of counterparties and investment products
