The Accounts Officer will assist in the maintenance of sub-ledger and general ledger accounts of the Kenson Group of Companies and provide timely and reliable information to management to support effective decision making.

Role Specific Work Processes and Standards:

  • Prepare and submit summary reports of monthly variances
  • Assist in compiling the company’s budget.
  • Update of general ledger and completion of associated reconciliations as per stipulated deadlines
  • Submit Payroll Journals and associated reports as per the stipulated deadlines.
  • Collate the necessary data to compile forecasts of monthly income statements and balance sheets.
  • Provide support in the preparation of the monthly/annual financial statements and associated schedules.
  • Recommend, implement, monitor and coordinate cost effectiveness and cost containment measures.
  • Ensure payroll expenditure is matched with monthly billings and invoices.
  • Submit accounts receivable report on a monthly basis and ensure outstanding balances kept within agreed levels.
  • Provide backfill duties to the Payroll and Invoicing department and work within the set deadlines.
  • Maintain company confidence and protects company operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain excellent relations with all personnel by providing effective support, feedback and prompt attention to issues/problems identified.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as required by the job function.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Accounting qualification – Level II - CIMA, ACCA, CPA, CMA or BSc in Accounting
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in an accounting environment with exposure to/experience in the preparation of financial statements and accounts of a company.

Competencies and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis
  • Has achieved proficiency and expertise in financial reporting methods
  • Familiarity with accounting software, e.g. Peachtree and proficiency in Excel, MS suite.
