ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Assistant reports to the Financial Accountant and will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties related to payables, treasury and other general accounting activities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing and posting of suppliers' purchase orders, invoices and payments
  • Maintain accruals and prepayments based on contractual commitments
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet and supplier accounts
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations and ensuring reconciling items are investigated and cleared timely
  • Monitor, report and make recommendations on treasury balances, based on liquidity thresholds
  • Maintain accurate accounting records by verifying and posting account transactions to the correct sub ledger and general ledger accounts and assisting with resolving any related issues
  • Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance to HSE policies and practices
  • Provide support to the accountant in the month end and year end close of the accounts - ensure all transactions posted timely and accurately, and the supporting schedules are adequately maintained with relevant information.
  • Assist with the internal and external audit process by preparing schedules, reconciliations, providing source documents, maintaining proper records and other reports.
  • Assist with filing department documents.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) or ACCA Level I certification
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ industry experience in Accounting
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and or any other Accounting Software
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel and Word)
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Collaborative team-player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Takes initiative
  • Thorough and precise
  • Works with minimum supervision
