FLEET SUPERVISOR
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the transportation department which includes maintaining safe and reliable company vehicles through scheduling repairs, servicing in-house, or by external service providers. He/she is responsible for ordering parts and other items as necessary to maintain or restore vehicles to optimum utility.
Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:
- Facilitating inspections, diagnosis and repairs to brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions and tires.
- Arranging diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determining a course of action for damaged parts and systems.
- Ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Conducting investigations in cooperation with relevant departments to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures.
- Supervising operations to ensure that team members comply with company policies and procedures, environmental policies and practices, safety rules and government regulations.
- Determining alternative course of action for parts that have been discontinued or are otherwise unavailable.
- Maintaining inventory levels and orders parts from relevant sources to ensure good availability of spares and elimination of down-time.
Qualification and Experience:
- At least five (3) years’ experience in Fleet Management/Vehicle Maintenance, three (2) of which must be at a supervisory level.
- Knowledgeable of Inventory Management Systems
- Knowledgeable of Fuel Management Systems
- May be required to work outside of normal working hours, on weekends and public holidays
- Ability to Lift, push, pull and carry heavy objects
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Ability to bend, squat, sit, climb, reach and kneel
- Ability to work in small, confined spaces
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule
