 VACANCY

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to provide coverage in the position of Pharmacist I (Sessional) at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

PHARMACIST I

The incumbent will be responsible for compounding and dispensing medication and other pharmaceutical products. Also, responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of pharmaceutical and other goods and ensuring that prescriptions are dispensed in an efficient and effective manner.

Main Responsibilities

  • Counsels patients on the usage and effective use of all medication.
  • Compounds and labels pharmaceuticals as and when required.
  • Maintains records for antibiotics, narcotic and controlled drugs in accordance with regulations and the Institution’s protocol.
  • Provides drug advice/information to other professional staff and patients as required.
  • Participates in educational and developmental programmes for the Pharmacy staff as requested by the Authority.
  • Controls and maintains all Inventory Control activities, e.g. all critical limits- receipts issued, balances, etc.
  • Prepares and submits all monthly reports for specific functions in an efficient manner.
  • Performs all other related duties as designated.
  • Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals in compliance with the policy and procedures manual for the Pharmacy department.
  • Sustains an effective working relationship with all stakeholders in the related areas and the general public.
  • Complies with policies and procedures pertinent to the Pharmacy/Institution.
  • Monitors and maintains quality assurance standards as per protocol of the Department/Institution.
  • Effectively manages the performance of subordinate staff members.

 

Minimum Qualifications, Requirements and Experience:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy form a recognised institution.
  • Completion of pre-registered pharmacy training.
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

  * Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago
