Job Profile

To assist with the efficient operation of the President’s Technical Support Unit in managing high-level/priority projects and initiatives, key processes and relationships, both internally and externally, as well as providing liaison support for Ministerial engagements and key associations joined by JAMPRO.

 

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform a range of duties that are necessary to effectively support the President’s Technical Support Unit.  These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare assigned research papers, briefs and reports for the President, Board of Directors and Portfolio Minister, including those seeking high-level intervention on behalf of export and investment clients, in accordance with required timelines.
  • Prepare assigned presentations, speaking notes and other support documents required for meetings being attended by the President or department Manager.
  • Prepare concept notes/justification documents/memos for activations related to the President’s Office and department’s strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare any other ad-hoc reports/technical documents as required for submission to the Manager of the Department
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of Ministerial Missions
  • Provide secretariat functions for the Jamaica Business Gateway project.
  • Support the Manager in following up with internal teams on the implementation of President’s assigned initiatives and projects.
  • Lead on the planning and execution of other assigned initiatives/events/projects under the purview of the President’s Office
  • Completion of departmental monthly and annual reports and any other required corporate reports.
  • Provide support to the department Manager as the designated liaison for the Caribbean Association for Investment Promotion Agencies and any other any other assigned bodies/committees.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to develop the department’s strategic documents for each financial year as per JAMPRO’s strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments for delivery/preparation of requested documents or respective inputs for the documents being developed by the department.
  • Review/vet assigned documents requiring the President’s and Manager’s signature for quality assurance, prior to obtaining signature.
  • Maintain systematic records for departmental outputs.
  • Prepare any other ad-hoc reports as required for submission to the Manager of the Department
  • Represent the department or JAMPRO, as directed, at meetings and on committees (internal and external).
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the President or Manager

  

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies of the Preferred Candidate

  • Graduate Degree (Masters degree) from a recognized tertiary institution in International Relations, International Business, Economics, Management or related discipline
  • 2-3 years’ work experience in a corporate environment
  • Knowledge of general Government of Jamaica protocol guidelines, business etiquette, diplomacy and cultural diversity
  • Ability to work with a team and individually
  • Ability to work in a demanding and dynamic environment, manage workloads manage complex/sensitive issues, and prioritize conflicting demands
  • Ability to produce required results with tight deadline-driven projects
  • Excellent verbal and [business] written communication skills
  • Excellent PowerPoint presentation preparation skills
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized and solutions-oriented
  • Appreciation of trade and investment dynamics of local and international markets
