VACANCY: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER TTIT (CONTRACT)
Job Summary
The Chief Executive Officer – TTIT (CEO) reports administratively to the General Manager / Chief Executive Officer (GM/CEO), PATT and strategically to the Board of Directors of the Strategic Business Unit - Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Company Limited (TTIT).
The incumbent is responsible for the financial performance of TTIT and providing effective leadership to create a high-performance organizational culture. He/she is expected to deliver an efficient and customer focused sea-bridge service between Trinidad and Tobago and explore/optimize all possible revenue generating opportunities in GSS Trinidad as well as Tobago.
The CEO is expected to lead and manage the TTIT by effecting the vision, strategic goals and objectives inclusive of key performance criteria to achieve the SBU’s business goals.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Demonstrate leadership on a daily basis to guide the SBU in achieving its vision and goals;
- Lead the development of the SBU’s strategies and annual business plan in alignment with the PATT’s over-arching strategic plan;
- Manage strategy implementation and recommend remedial measures to be taken to assure the long term financial viability of TTIT;
- Ensure the effective and efficient dissemination of TTIT’s strategic direction to all TTIT employees;
- Create an environment that fosters a high performance culture in support of TTIT’s core values, mission, vision, goals and strategies;
- Explore/optimize all possible revenue generating opportunities for the continued financial viability of TTIT;
- Build organizational capability by implementing appropriate Departmental key performance indicators and the effective utilization of human and other resources;
- Develop and maintain effective strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; and
- Maintain a harmonious industrial relations climate by constructively engaging with all key internal and external stakeholders.
Executive Responsibility
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of TTIT.
- Attend PATTGU Board Meetings and present reports related to TTIT Operations as required;
- Ensure that Board decisions are implemented as directed;
- Prepare and deliver reports/briefs/presentation as required;
- Represent the TTIT on committees and official meetings etc. as directed; and
- Provide technical advice to the Board on matters related to TTIT.
Organizational Performance
- Ensure the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) for each Department within TTIT; based on national benchmarks and international standards;
- Review the business model of TTIT from time to time and advance recommendations for improvement;
- Ensure that all Health and Safety obligations of the company are always met and implement changes and improvements where necessary;
- Drive the development of team and individual KPIs to improve departmental and individual performance;
- Ensure that all Departmental Heads/Supervisors administer the employee performance management system in a timely manner;
- Recommend and/or undertake disciplinary action against employees in keeping with the disciplinary process as may be required;
- Ensure the continuous review of TTIT’s policies and procedures for relevance and undertake any remedial action as may be required;
- Direct the preparation of departmental/operational budgets in alignment with the strategic plan and in accordance with relevant guidelines;
- Keep abreast of on-going key projects to ensure completion on time and within budget; and
- Continuously review financial performance of TTIT and take affirmative action on any area of leakage; and
- Deal with serious customer complaints in a timely manner,
Communication
- Enable the creation and maintenance of a social media presence and company website;
- Ensure the preparation and dissemination of Marketing and Customer Service Strategies that highlight the core values of TTIT and enhance its corporate image through the high level of service to internal and external customers;
- Promote effective communication within TTIT; and
- Implement an appropriate customer service feedback system geared towards improving the customer experience.
Compliance
- Review, report on and advance recommendation(s) to ensure that TTIT’s operations are in full compliance with the PATT’s legal and regulatory framework and take corrective action as necessary
- Ensure strict adherence to TTIT’s safety management programme for vessel and terminal operations; and
- Any other related duties as may be assigned by the GM/CEO and/or Board of Commissioners
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to bring strategy to life with tangible results
- A track record of leading a successful mid to large scale operations or business unit
- A track records of business development and value creation
- Experienced, credible and pragmatic leader preferably with experience in logistics, tourism, public and/or sustainable transport
- Demonstrated skills in negotiating
- Demonstrated commercial acumen
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework governing TTIT’s Operations
- Working knowledge of OSH Act;
- Working knowledge of industrial relations principles and practices;
- Working knowledge of the local, regional and international port industries
- Knowledge of ISM, ISPS, OSH, and STCW principles
- Experience in financial planning and risk management

Minimum Requirements
Qualification/ Experience and Training:
- Degree in Business Management, Port Management, Logistics or related discipline from an accredited academic institution
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration / Port Management or related discipline from an accredited academic institution
- Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution / Conflict Resolution will be an asset
- Certificate in OSH will be an asset
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ working experience at a level of Divisional/Executive Manager within the Maritime industry
- Any other equivalent combination of qualifications, training and working experience will be given consideration.
