To ensure the availability of the Company's fleet (Trucks, Forklifts, Manlifts and Trailers). The incumbent is required to carry out all corrective, preventative, predictive maintenance.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out a Preventative Maintenance Schedule for the company’s fleet of Trucks and Lift equipment in accordance with OEM standards.
  • Ensures equipment is available for use by completing Preventive Maintenance schedules and conducting repairs and upgrades.
  • Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning etc.
  • Maintains a Defect sheet for each vehicle.
  • Follow up on vehicle damages and assist in root cause investigations.
  • Test drives vehicles to ascertain issues before service and after; ensures all service jobs are completed to the required quality.
  • Engages in continuous learning to stay abreast of developments/techniques in the automotive industry.
  • Assists in training of junior mechanics / technicians.
  • Ensures service equipment/tools are accounted for and in good/safe working condition.
  • Ensures staff always maintain proper housekeeping and a safe working environment.
  • Complies with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as and when required.

Key Knowledge & Experience:

  • Must have exposure to service and repairs of Trucks and Caterpillar Lifts
  • Must exhibit knowledge of Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
  • Flexibility to work shifts in line with business requirements
  • Proactive approach to maintaining and improving fleet standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a NEC National Craftsman Certificate or Diploma in Auto and Diesel or Mechanical Craftsman or Craftsman Level in Mechatronics or equivalent training
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in Automotive and Lift Equipment Repairs
  • Computer Literate

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently to ensure successful and timely completion of same.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments
  • Excellent critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficient communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal).
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Solutions Oriented.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Class 4 driver's permit and Forklift Certification will be an asset.
