Applications are currently invited for the position Health, Safety, Security and Environment Officer located at our Corporate Head Office.

The incumbent develops, plans, implements, coordinates, directs and monitors all aspects of the company’s safety, security and environment policies, procedures and systems for the creation and maintenance of a safe work environment, safe work practices and the delivery of effective and efficient security services.  

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops a Strategic Business Plan for the Company’s Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (HSSE) needs
  • Develops, supervises the implementation, reviews and monitors the Safety Management System of the Company. 
  • Ensures compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations; with Environmental legislation and regulations and liaises with the OSH authorities and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders e.g. regulatory and state security agencies, Fire Services, OSH Agency, EMA etc. and shareholders on HSSE issues and represent the Company at government, industry and business committees and meetings relating to HSSE matters.
  • Develops policies, procedures and guidelines to improve HSSE performance in the Company and ensure compliance.
  • Develops and maintains proper HSSE documentation systems for record keeping, regulatory purposes and audits.
  • Designs and implements annual HSSE training for employees and keeps all staff informed on relevant health, safety security and environmental issues.
  • Develops and implements process safety programs and reviews workplace safety and environmental issues and ensures that recommended actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Designs, reviews and maintains HSSE contingency plans (i.e. fires, hurricanes etc.)
  • Liaises with insurers or other audit entities in the review of the HSSE function and risks.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and monitoring of human resources/internal policies, guidelines, procedures and processes 

 

POSITION PROFILE:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associate Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management and/or related discipline supplemented by NEBOSH Certification
  • Three (3) years’ experience in the field of Occupational Safety and Health
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in Trinidad and Tobago relating to HSE and Security
  • Experience in Risk Analysis and mitigation for a manufacturing facility.
  • A sound working knowledge of security best practice and legislation affecting the security role.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills, team player with influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.
  • Track record of on-time delivery and ability to meet deadlines. 
  •  Understanding of OSH Regulations, Labour Laws and HR Policies and Practices
