Golf Course Superintendent

As the Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the golf course's playing conditions, appearance and overall health. You will manage the daily operations of the grounds team, implement best practices in turf management and ensure the course meets or exceeds the highest industry standards. This role requires a strong leader with a deep knowledge of agronomy, irrigation systems and a commitment to delivering an exceptional golfing experience.

Specific requirements/duties of the position include:

• Implementing and executing a comprehensive turf management programme. including mowing, fertilization, pest control and irrigation management.
• Maintaining and Planning the replanting, aeration, trimming, rebuilding and general maintenance of trees, fairways, putting greens, sand traps and the entire golf course.
• Developing and implementing a comprehensive plan, ensuring the golf course is maintained to the highest standards of playability, aesthetics and safety.
• Leading, mentoring and managing the grounds team, ensuring proper training, scheduling and performance evaluations.
• Overseeing the care of golf course maintenance equipment.
• Managing the annual budget for turf maintenance, equipment and supplies, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Ensuring compliance with local environmental regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Tertiary level education (degree/diploma) in turf management or associated field.
• Minimum of five years-experience in golf course maintenance, with three years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proficiency in turf management practices, equipment operation and irrigation systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to provide technical training for team members.
• Knowledge of golf course construction and renovation projects.
• Familiarity with pesticide and fertilizer application regulations.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Budget management skills.
• Proficient in MS Office or other related programmes.
