JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Inventory Associate is responsible for receiving and processing stock, ensuring inventory is processed, organized and stored. The role lends support to the Store Manager and Sales Supervisor in maintaining and recording of inventory and the overall operations of PCU Plus.  This position reports to the Sales Supervisor.

KEY TASKS:              

 

  1. Receives and records new inventory as it is delivered; inspects and stores it according to company policy.
  2. Ensures that stock is stored correctly in the appropriate locations.
  3. Updates the counter point system to ensure accuracy of inventory items.
  4. Monitors the cycle count and submits written reports.
  5. Plans, organises and participates in the daily warehouse operations and activities, including the inventory management, receipt, documentation, packing, retrieving and delivery of goods.
  6. Conducts regular physical inventory checks (weekly, monthly and annually) to verify results against the counter point system and addresses any discrepancies found during physical stock checks.
  7. Maintains a database of all inventory items, including product codes and assists in locating items in-store and scheduling deliveries of inventory between Branches.
  8. Communicates with suppliers to determine product availability and schedules incoming shipments of merchandise and the transfer of items to and from the warehouse.
  9. Enforces operating instructions and safety policies.

10. Compiles a list of shortages and submits to Sales Supervisor.

11. Conducts periodic quality control inspections of stocked merchandise.

12. Reports customer queries to the Sales Supervisor for timely and effective resolution.

13. Performs any other related duties that may be assigned by the Sales Supervisor or Store Manager to ensure effective operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of 5 CSEC/CXC subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English Language
  • Training in Inventory Management (CIPS certification or equivalent).
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Knowledge of Inventory Management systems will be an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s Licence free of Demerit points.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:     

  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control technologies and best practices in a fast-paced retail type industry.
  • Flexible and able to work well under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse receipt and dispatch processes.
  • Ability to work outside of business hours, as required, to receive stock and engage in inventory management.
  • Able to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 150 lb., while utilising appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and report on computerised inventory data.
  • Knowledge of basic financial accounting. 
  • Competence in use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Presentation and report writing skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and engage in creative problem-solving.
  • Excellent organisational skills to plan, schedule and coordinate tasks in a manner conducive to optimum performance and profitability.
  • Courteous with the ability to resolve conflicts professionally in person or by telephone.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a temperature controlled modern office setting, mostly from a sitting position at a modular workstation with periodic walking. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.

 

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT

Personal computer, printers, scanner, telephone, copiers and calculators.
