JOB DESCRIPTION  

 

Job Title:                    Management Information System (MIS) Technician

Classification:            MIS/IT 3

Reports To:                Financial Controller

Summary:                  Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Accountant, ensures that Nutrition Products Limited employs the technology and resources available to implement systems and procedures that facilitate an efficient and effective means by which information and data can be shared and disseminated throughout the company.

Duties and

Responsibilities:

 

  • Implement and maintain the Company’s network systems and infrastructure – domain, and application and, firewall, switches, cat 5e/6 and fibre-optic cables, user-computers, printers, toners and cartridges, multi-function printers, fax machines, and data backup devices.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for software and hardware components – troubleshooting, problem resolution, device and user-connectivity and error tracking and reporting.
  • Plan and schedule data backups, the method to be used, the data being backed up, and the storage mechanism (both offsite and onsite).
  • Implement data recovery methods as it entails being able to readily retrieve and upload recent data upon request.
  • Perform network system analysis and make recommendations for changes or re-engineering of the company’s IT infrastructure-  availing the company with Industry standards and practices as is allowable, in order to foster efficiency and data relevance. 
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Chief Financial Accountant. 
  • Travel on a monthly/bimonthly basis (or as emergency situations dictate) to rural locations to perform system audit and functionality checks – audit each desk-user’s computer usage, check for peer to peer network connectivity, perform system and keyboard cleaning and ensure access to shared resources.
  • Provide regular service/repair to computers and printers in all plants islandwide.

  • Network          Maintenance of Company’s network
  • Printers            Maintenance of printers
  • CUG               Managing the Closed User Group (CUG) phones
  • Computers       Manage and maintain computer system
  • Networks        Monitor Company’s network
  • Backups          Maintain, implement and test backups
  • UPS                 Manage and maintain UPS
  • Peripherals       Store and maintain peripheral devices
  • All software    Store and  maintain all software licences

Any other duties assigned.

Performance Standards:

  • Company’s network system maintained on a regular basis and downtime minimized
  • Technical support provided to staff in a timely and relevant manner
  • Data backup system in place and backups conducted on a regular basis to avoid loss of data.
  • Recommendation for upgrades or changes to IT systems made on a timely manner
  • Repair hardware where possible to effect a saving in company resources

Minimum

Qualifications:

 A first degree in Computer Science

Minimum

Experience:

                 Three (3) years’ experience in an IT position.                                

 

REMUNERATION

Basic Salary: $1,984,305.00 - $2,668,670.00 per annum
