Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position Product Research & Development Division:

Laboratory Analyst – Chemistry (Salary 3,094,839)

Vacant

 

Under the general direction of the Team Leader, Analytical Services, the incumbent is expected to perform chemical or specialized analyses on a wide range of sample matrices for conformity, safety, research and development, and quality assurance. The officer is also responsible for verifying and validating test methods, maintaining the laboratory quality control program, and general maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.

 Educational Requirement

  • BSc. in Chemistry or equivalent qualification                      
  • Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Training in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 & ISO/IEC 17025) would be preferred
  • Training in laboratory techniques

 Experience

  • Minimum four (4) years’ post qualification experience in a related field.

 Required skills and Specialized Techniques

  • Ability to perform in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a team member

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients by the testing of various sample matrices/items for the purpose of assessing the chemical quality of the product and checking compliance to specifications.
  • Ensure proper quality control is in effect in the laboratory by monitoring and supervising the programmes developed.
  • Performs procedures as prescribed in Quality Manual and Methods manual.
  • Evaluate test results and overall quality trends with a broad understanding of the technologies involved in the processing of food and water.
  • Research and implement new test methods         
  • Provide technical assistance to clients                                                               
  • Prepare results for scientific publications related to the area of work assigned
