Responsible for reconciling all banking transactions for the various accounts held by the company

JOB TITLE: BANK RECONCILIATION OFFICER  

  

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager (FM), the Bank Reconciliation Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate reconciliation of Scoops Unlimited (SUL) & Caribbean Cream Limited (CCL) bank accounts and ensuring that all transactions are entered into the General Ledger.  

 

  

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

  

  • Undertakes reconciliation of SUL &CCL main current and savings accounts, and credit card accounts in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
  • Reconciliation of daily cash deposit from all retail stores and depots to the bank statement.
  • Ensures that cashed cheques and drafts (both local and overseas), online payments, and transfers are checked against the bank statements.  
  • Ensures that credit card transactions are checked against the statements.
  • Informs the FM of discrepancies and errors found on bank statements and follows up with the bank until resolved/corrected.
  • Ensures that bank statement transactions are timely posted to the company’s’ GL system, that is -
    • Identifies bank charges, debit and credit advice, stale dated cheques etc. and prepares journals that are to be approved by the FM.
    • Posts journal entries to the General Ledger.
  • Reports any irregularities and/or variances identified during the preparation of the reconciliations to the FM.
  • Submits completed Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation Statements.  
  • Maintains files for cashed cheques, bank statements, bank reconciliation statements and journals.   
  • Assists with the reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts and prepares required audit schedule.
  •  Contributes to the SUL & CCL monthly financial reports and annual financial statements.  
  • Provides support as required to the FM by performing any other assigned responsibilities that may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department.

   

   

Qualifications/Experience 

  • Associate degree in business administration and/or ACCA level 1.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar function. 

  

Skills & Knowledge 

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of Bank Reconciliation Procedures /General Ledger Systems and        Procedure.
  • Computer literate – have skills in QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Point of sales system, and Microsoft applications. 
  • Sound internal control systems.
