Laboratory Technician Contract: 2 years

Laboratory Technician

This is a contract of two (2) years. 

• Perform chemistry sampling

• Perform laboratory testing on routine samples as well as solid phosphate

• Assist the Industrial Chemist with corrective actions based on the chemistry results

• Assist the Industrial Chemist with dosing operations based on chemistry results

• Perform regeneration of resins and basic calibration of analyzers

• Assist the Industrial Chemist with Operations of the Water Treatment Plant

• CIP procedures on RO trains & CEDI, back washing of multi-media filters and softeners 

• Good Analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills

• Good troubleshooting skills

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and demands.

• Proven ability to create and sustain effective working relationships in a team environment.

• Ability to communicate and articulate ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

• Strong technical skills with PC/Software/CMMS based systems & technical writing.

• Proficient in use of Maximo.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 O 'levels (Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry) and accredited Diploma in Chemical, PPO or any other Engineering Equivalent.

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a Laboratory environment. Experience in a Power Plant or Process Plant environment will be considered an Asset.

• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of chemistry.
