Maintenance Technician - Electrician

Responsibilities:

Perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance and repair of mechanical and/or electrical equipment with specific focus in assigned trade; Operate a variety of equipment and machinery including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work. Interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches and work orders to effectively perform maintenance activities. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a variety of electrical systems, including hot water heaters, and boilers, walk-in coolers / freezers, under counter refrigeration, ice machines, and all electrical components related to outboards, engines, and ovens.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and providing maintenance in all phases of electrical equipment in the plant
  • Inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains the electrical and mechanical systems in a safe
    manner within a food manufacturing facility.
  •  Supports the operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
  •  Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic mechanical systems including valves,
    solenoids, and manual and automatic controls.
  •  Inspects, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical equipment of
    varying voltages, including but not limited to 0V through 480v.
  •  Inspects, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical equipment,
    including but not limited to: motors (all types), starters, breakers, transformers, isolation
    switches, relays, fuses, resistors, air conditioning, valves, AC Drives, and DC Drives.
  • Inspects, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains mechanical systems such as:
    pumps, conveyors, gearbox, compressors, mixers, dividers and wrappers, slicers and
    baggers.
  • Installing and configuring PLC systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and applications problems
  • Promote a safe work environment. Compliy with GMP standards as well as all company policies and procedures
  • Complete monthly stock taking as well as help to maintain stock counts.
  • May provide lateral service to other departments

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Territiary training and qualification in Industrial engineering
  • 3 to 4 years Industrial electrical experience; 
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials common to the electrician trade
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electrician trade
  • Working skills in the use of tools of the trade to trouble shoot complex electrical problems including multi meter, refrigerant gauges, charging charts, hand tools, etc.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needs
  • This is a field service position that may include work from ladders, elevated platforms as well as working in confined spaces
