Our client is seeking suitably qualified candidates for the position of Logistics Manager.

Job Scope:

This position is responsible for the overall planning, directing and coordination efforts associated with the acquisition of services and materials.

The Logistics Manger will maintain an inventory to meet demand, as well as overseeing the shipping, receiving, issuance and adequate recording of all resulting transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishes, harmonizes and maintains appropriate department policies, and procedures.
  • Identifies and reports on procurement needs by collecting and receiving requirements from operations and other departments.
  • Manage, coach and develop staff to ensure high performance of the department.
  • Ensures that inventory levels are suitable to meet operational and organizational needs.
  • Reports on regular basis to executive management on procurement, pricing, shipping and logistics trends, forecasts and concerns.
  • Creates and maintains relationships with suppliers/stakeholders and the maintenance of an approved suppliers’ database through continuous financial and performance assessments.
  • Researches the marketplace and liaises with stakeholders and other internal parties for optimal market pricing and potential vendors.
  • Manages the negotiation with vendors.
  • Identifies the emergency requirements of materials and arranges supplies of same.
  • Provides timely reports as input into the Finance department for financial reporting purposes.
  • Provide supervision, coaching and training to staff.
  • Prepares financial and qualitative evaluation of quotes and tender bids to identify the preferred supplier. Prepares Tender evaluation document for circulation to Tenders Committee.
  • Ensures regulations of Customs and Board of Inland Revenue are strictly complied with.
  • Plans and executes periodic inventory verification exercises in accordance with acceptable Auditing Standards.
  • Directs investigations to verify and resolve internal customer and vendor complaints.
  • Remains current with the latest material management tools and technology and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties to support the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives.

Education and Experience

  • BSc. in Supply Chain Management with a minor in Business Finance or equivalent combination of qualification and experience.
  • CIPS Certification
  • A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a related industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication and negotiating skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
  • Skilful in planning and analyzing the requirements of the organization.
  • Skilled at researching the market, looking for potential suppliers and designing quotations for the purchase order
  • Well-versed with the traditional as well as advanced methods of inventory control.
  • Expert user in a CMA/Computerised inventory systems environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a high performance, fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability and willingness to respond to plant emergencies when required.
