 Job Scope

In keeping with corporate strategy, the Integrated Marketing Communications Manager will effectively manage the corporate communications & marketing function to build awareness of, and support for JAMPRO’s mandate and activities as well as generate investment and trade leads/enquiries through generating a high level of local and international media coverage of JAMPRO activities. The manager is also responsible for the production of well-edited and designed publications and collateral material, strategic use of social media and direct marketing, dynamic web communications and effective internal communications systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform duties that are necessary to effectively support the Department’s activities.  These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute a marketing communications strategy for the organization aimed at building public awareness of JAMPRO’s activities and programmes, generating investment and trade enquiries/leads and ensuring internal customers are kept aware of and involved in key initiatives
  • Manage effectively, the operations of the Integrated Marketing Communications Department to achieve high levels of publicity through all established communications channels, including social media
  • Create an innovative digital marketing strategy to stimulate the interest of the local and international business community in doing business with and in Jamaica
  • Manage JAMPRO’s online assets, including website, and the social media channels to ensure regular updating, quality content and continuously expanding outreach to new business audiences
  • Generate high quality media content for mainstream media, in particular the local and international business media
  • Raise Jamaica’s international profile as a business location
  • Achieve consistently high levels of free exposure in local and international media channels that positively profile Jamaica’s business environment
  • Adequately measure and report on media exposure values
  • Conceptualize, edit, proof, and recommend for approval text and content for all Agency publications and collateral material, in hard copy and digital form
  • Edit and submit for final approval the Agency Annual Report in collaboration with lead division and departments
  • Function as the lead and provide oversight for all external communications, i.e. speeches, publications, collateral material, news articles, regular columns, speaking notes and briefs, Corporate and business profiles, corporate newsletters etc., developing content as necessary
  • Provide oversight for content development and dissemination for corporate internal communications.
  • Plan and execute, as directed, periodic Public Relations and Advertising programmes, including corporate events
  • Manage and plan media campaigns surrounding organizational initiatives
  • Provide consultative services to all divisions and departments for media interviews, press releases and appearances.
  • Identify speaking engagements for key members of staff in fora which will enhance JAMPRO’s public image and reach new business audiences
  • Promote greater staff collaboration and teamwork through internal staff newsletter and intranet programming
  • Produce editorial calendar for written content for media releases, news articles, regular columns, corporate and business profiles, speaking notes and briefs, corporate newsletters etc.
  • Coordinate the procurement process for the department and monitor payments to service providers
  • Conduct, as directed, periodic public impact surveys.
  • Prepare annual Operational Plan for the Department and Individual Work Plans for members of the Department
  • Supervise all members of the Department for optimal outcomes
  • Advise the Vice-President of Marketing on all matters related to media and crisis communications, etc.
  • Manage the execution of PR and Public Education activities around JAMPRO Branded initiatives and programmes
  • Develop and maintain useful media contacts locally and internationally
  • Edit and recommend for approval all media releases
  • Build reliable relationships with external communications and PR service providers
  • Participate in the Agency’s strategic planning and budgeting processes,
  • Manage and report on the departmental performance based on targets outlined in the Departments annual Dashboard
  • Prepare monthly status report as required for submission to Board, President and other stakeholders
  • Represent JAMPRO at national and international forums
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by the Vice President of Marketing

 

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies

  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Media/Communications, or related equivalent
  • At least 5-7 years’ work experience at a senior management level in corporate communications, or marketing in the private or public sectors.
  • Well-developed knowledge of strategic marketing and communications, reputation management and corporate communications principles
  • Good understanding of current Digital Marketing strategies, campaign management, execution and digital lead generation tactics
  • Knowledge of JAMPRO’s mandate, corporate plan and communications strategies
  • Ability to manage/oversee advertising/media campaigns, and large-scale corporate events
  • Knowledge of multimedia, spatial and display design concepts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • High emotional intelligence and skills of facilitation
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Highly developed research skills
  • Experience & knowledge of marketing software applications such as: Hootsuite, Sprout Social and/or other relevant software.
