Maintenance Technician

Purpose of the Role:

• Install, maintain, improve, and repair equipment, plant, services and building installations to set levels effectively in compliance with best practices.
• Ensure maximum plant efficiency and availability.
• Respond to technical issues affecting production and maintain electrical and mechanical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve with minimal downtime to production
• Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service
• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management
• Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
• Identify spares requirements and log usage.
• Source, purchase, secure & issue spare parts.
• Assist with the moving, installation, repositioning of machines and equipment
• Ensure that contractors are monitored & utilised in accordance with company

procedures

• Support and lead improvement activities
• Plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented
• Work and liaise with a range of internal departments and external suppliers, utilising good effective communication across all functions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• BSc. in Engineering, or Electronics & Instruments, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing plant
• Experience in the food industry would be an asset
• Refrigeration or Facilities background         

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to troubleshoot
• Team player with initiative and a positive attitude
• Must be results-oriented
• High level of professionalism and integrity
• Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
• Good interpersonal, organizing, planning and coordination skills
