Finance Manager (Banking Sector)

 

Overview: Our client is one of the leading financial institutions based in Barbados. Due to growth, they are seeking to appoint a proven professional to lead and manage the team providing financial management/control for all areas under remit. This role reports to the CFO and requires candidates to have proven analytical/strategic accounting expertise to meet the company objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• In consultation with the CFO, co-ordinate, manage and direct the work of the

Finance Department ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting

Standards, applicable Regulatory Framework and Guidelines.

 

• Ensure that all financial processes are fully documented on an ongoing basis, to

liaise with the Assurance Functions to ensure they are being followed and to draw to

the CFO’s attention any issues of concerns or possible control breaches.

 

• Provide strategic guidance and advice on revenue, capital budgets supporting the

financial planning and budgeting process.

 

• Monitor and advise on the overall revenue, capital and budget position throughout the year, providing senior managers and budget holders with support and guidance in their budget management role.

 

• Providing relevant financial information advice and lead on assigned corporate initiatives, cross service projects and external projects.

 

• In consultation with the CFO provide financial advice, information and support to Board/committees.

 

• To monitor existing budgets and produce financial statements and reports showing budget to actual performance.

 

 

 

• In consultation with the CFO plan, manage and co-ordinate year-end audits and prepare Audited Financial Statements for the company/assigned subsidiaries and or affiliated companies on an annual basis.

• Undertakes coaching and mentoring of direct reports.

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

• A Professional Accounting qualification, e.g. ACCA, CGA, CPA or equivalent accounting

designation.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field.

• Substantial post qualifying experience in a financial services industry is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a team.

• Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.

• Working knowledge of accounting software packages.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts, and to prepare/present   concise verbal and written reports.

• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team

• Possess excellent supervisory and team working skills.

• Proven ability in coaching and mentoring.

• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
