The Cost Accounting Manager (Shared Services) main responsibilities are to monitor, analyze, recommend, and execute operational and financial controls to achieve the business objectives in a cost-efficient manner.

Main Function

The Cost Accounting Manager (Shared Services) main responsibilities are to monitor, analyze, recommend, and execute operational and financial controls to achieve the business objectives in a cost-efficient manner. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with business leaders to ensure completion of annual budgets or reforecast efficiently and within stipulated timelines. Daily evaluation and monitoring of expenses, analyzing the weekly and monthly expenditures within stipulated timelines for the division/entities/departments to which he/she is assigned.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervision of Clerical Staff
  • Assist departments with due diligence, preparation, and validation of Capital requirements (CRF) and calculations of financial feasibility (ROI, Payback).
  • Assist with the budget preparation for all CB Group (Shared Service) Departments.
  • Provide timely analysis of Departmental spending with an effort to minimize deviation from approved budget and manage cost.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators, analyse variances, recommend areas for improvement.
  • Assist with execution of Strategic decisions relating to company objectives.
  • Confirm coding and allocation of expenses for shared service departments.
  • Coordinate shared services purchases to maximise economies of scale.
  • Liaise with/assist the department Managers daily in managing their operating expenses and constantly seeking ways of reducing wastages while recommending cost saving measures.
  • Work closely with the financial reporting to ensure the accuracy of monthly financial reports. (Accruals, prepayments, allocations etc.)
  • Discuss monthly financial statements and cost centre reports with divisional managers with a view to staying current on the plans and projections of the entities/divisions to which assigned.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers re: price increases / termination of contracts and so on.
  • Assist in ensuring that the division/entity to which you are assigned complies with all regulations – legal, statutory, SGF, ISO (where applicable) etc.
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors when required.
  • Work on any special projects assigned.
  • Facilitate/conduct staff training – in-house trainings.
  • Keep abreast of global changes and their possible effects on the Group: e.g., IAS, IFRS, WTO
  • Continually review internal control processes with a view to improving same.
  • Assist with preparation of unscheduled reports to facilitate decision-making.
  • Conduct any other general duties reasonably assigned.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Operations Management
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Management Accounting or Internal Auditing at a senior level
  • Strong analytical skills for planning and budgeting
  • An effective communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office software applications
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Meticulous with good organization skills
  • Ability to maintain and preserve strict confidentiality.
