Senior Technician, Mechanical

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the Senior Technician is accountable for the performing specialized diagnostics on fixed and rotating mechanical equipment. The Senior Technician provides guidance in the diagnosing and completion of repairs, maintenance and overhaul of equipment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts mechanical diagnostics to determine reasons for equipment performance and/or failure.
  • Analysis of root cause failures and present remedial solutions.
  • Undertakes repairs or otherwise leads in the conduct of repairs to fixed and rotating mechanical equipment.
  • Reviews and reports on plant and equipment performance for preventative and predictive maintenance purposes.
  • Performs planning and routine turnaround jobs, inclusive of the provision of necessary spare parts and other support mechanisms for the efficient execution of jobs.
  • Recommends basic modifications to plant equipment that will aid in the improvement of equipment performance and reliability.
  • Performs all assigned activities with emphasis on health, safety and the environment and must be familiar with the basic application of current safety initiatives.
  • Assembles required component parts according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Identifies and selects the appropriate welding rods for welding jobs and performs welding according to the AWS codes.
  • Ensures that all the necessary tools and equipment are kept clean and in a serviceable condition.
  • Produces daily maintenance logs Records to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required by the job function.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role and environment
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Knowledge of operational tools and equipment, including application towards precision maintenance, task productivity improvement and maintaining OEM-standard equipment (Packaging, Feed Mill, Gantry, Flour Mill)
  • Precision maintenance techniques (lubrication, alignment, machine shop fundamentals)
  • Sound Proficiency in MS Office
