The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for executing all repairs across the business, including its
stores and grounds to ensure that the facility is well maintained, safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day management of all grounds, buildings, facilities and associated
• infrastructure.
• Perform basic maintenance, installations and repairs on fixtures, equipment, and facilities.
• Regularly inspect and maintain shopping carts, ensuring they are clean, functional, and in good
• condition.
• Address spills and hazards promptly to prevent accidents.
• Maintain the exterior of the supermarket, including cleaning windows, entryways, and signage.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance tools.
• Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are followed, such as proper storage of cleaning
• chemicals and the use of safety signs.

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in the use of basic hand and electric tools.
• Knowledge of cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, general maintenance and repairs, including tiling.
• Working knowledge of refrigeration and appliances.
• Knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, fire, plumbing, health and safety codes.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers,
• suppliers and contractors.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions.

Requirements

• At least five (5) CXC passes or equivalent certification including English Language and
• Mathematics.
• Technical Training with relevant certification.
• Two (2) to Four (4) years’ technical work experience or experience working in facilities
• maintenance.
• Must have valid driver’s license and possess vehicle in good working condition.
• Computer literate and knowledgeable of the use of Microsoft Office.
• Flexible and willing to promptly respond to urgent matters outside of normal working hours.
