OUR NEED

We are seeking a to fill a temporary vacancy for the position of a Drafting Technician for a period of six (6) months in the first instance, with an option to extend as necessary.  The Drafting Technician will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed drawings which shall be in accordance with industry standards by utilizing software such as AutoCAD and other similar applications.

 KEY DUTIES

Included among the responsibilities of the role are: -

• Technical Drawing: Create precise technical drawings and schematics according to project specifications, local regulatory requirements, and any other standards as defined by each project.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiently use AutoCAD and other relevant software tools to produce high-quality drawings and renderings.
• Compliance: Ensure all drawings adhere to local building codes, zoning regulations, and industry-specific standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, ANSI, etc.).
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, suppliers/contractors and other team members to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into drawings.
• Quality Control: Review and validate drawings and as-built structures for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
• Documentation: Maintain a well-organized and up-to-date library of drawings and design documentation.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support to project teams by resolving design-related issues and inquiries.
• Research: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, software updates, and design standards to ensure continuous improvement.
• Communication: Effectively communicate technical information and design changes to team members and clients.

 DESIRED BACKGROUND/SKILLS

The incumbent should possess: -

• A diploma in Drafting Technology or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in drafting, with a strong portfolio showcasing proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory, and experience with additional software tools such as Rivet/ SolidWorks etc. will be considered an asset.
• Familiarity with local building codes and regulations is essential. Knowledge of international design standards and codes is a strong asset.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and error-free drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find innovative solutions to technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
