This role sits on the Leadership Team and supports the Trinidad business and enables work with fellow HRBP’s across North America and Trinidad & Tobago. AThis position is a “working manager” role.

Reporting to the Director, Business Partners and a key member of the Trinidad Leadership Team this role supports the Trinidad business and enables work with fellow HRBP’s across North America and Trinidad & Tobago.  As a functioning member of the Nitrogen HR team, this position operates with a high degree of autonomy in supporting and advising Trinidad business leaders and HR Business Advisors reporting into the role.  This position is a “working manager” role.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others. You will have direct accountability for ensuring familiarity and demonstrating the Commitment to Zero policy, leading with a safety mindset and modeling the 3 Safety Principles, modelling the 10 Tenets of Operation and having your own personal safety action plan.
  • Providing expertise, guidance and coaching to senior leaders and HR Business Advisors in managing highly sensitive and complex employee relations matters, including performance management, disability management, etc.
  • Proactively analyzing and identifying complex people issues and trends in the context of function/SBU business strategy and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Partnering with senior leaders in initiating workforce planning and developing annual staffing plans and then working with hiring managers in initiating recruitments, preparing job profiles and assessing job ladder/banding and salary ranges.
  • Supporting leaders in proactive management of the annual compensation cycle as well as managing ongoing compensation issues.
  • Consulting on business effectiveness projects, as required (e.g., structural re-organizations or business process improvements).
  • Acting as a change agent and managing change related to function/SBU specific initiatives.
  • Providing leadership and coaching to other staff, including directing day-to-day activities, establishing goals and managing performance.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, develop, and implement solutions to complex issues
  • Proficiency in written and oral communications with the ability to adapt appropriately to various audiences and contexts
  • Proven decision-making skills and the ability to exercise discretion in judgment in the context of sensitive and confidential situations
  • Ability to contribute at a strategic level while also providing direct day-to-day operational support as an individual contributor
  • Ability to travel from time to time

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum 15 years of HR Generalist
  • Minimum 5 years of HR leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the Energy sector is preferred
