Technical Support Officer

Interested persons are invited to apply for the position of Technical Support Officer within the Information Technology Department.
Position Purpose:
To provide support on operational issues and problems associated with the performance and availability of all IT system related resources.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with the design, development, user-acceptance testing, training and documentation of in-house software applications;
Troubleshoots and maintains off-the-shelf and in-house software using software development techniques and knowledge and provides technical support where required;
Assist in the research, evaluation and deployment of new IT solutions both hardware and software and make recommendations for the improvement of IT operations;
Analyses data mining requirements, disaster recovery requirements, backup and data redundancy requirements and recommends improvements to existing systems to ensure that business needs are met;
Assists in providing users with IT training suitable to their functions. Ensures that users achieve adequate levels of competency in their use of the company’s systems;
Provides Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity support in the event of system outages;
Assists with all end of period processing and reporting as required;
Maintains all IT systems user documentation and databases, prepares training manuals for user training;
Assists in the installation and configuration of hardware and software;
Assists in the maintenance and upgrade of hardware peripherals;
Assists with the design, programming and technical support of the company’s website;
Performs any other duties incidental to the above and which may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Department.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Technical
Knowledge of Installed Application software, all leading edge technologies & tools;
Knowledge of server hardware and operating systems;
Knowledge of IT concepts, data management systems and internal processes;
Knowledge of project management techniques and tools;
Knowledge of programming languages and techniques;
Knowledge in the following applications; PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript, SQL, XML & JAVA
Personal

Minimum Requirements:
BSc Information Technology or equivalent certification
Three (3) years Programming Experience;
Experience in Systems Analysis & Design, Operating Systems (Os400, Windows, NT), Hardware
Systems (ISeries, Windows, PCs).
Good punctuality and attendance records.
