OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE

The Manager, Taxation:

  • Ensures compliance with local and international tax legislation for the NGC Group of Companies including accounting and tax return preparation.
  • Engages in optimal tax planning strategies to optimize business value.
  • Mitigates taxation risk in alignment with the company goals.

FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the development and implementation of effective tax planning strategies to optimize value.
  • Provides internal tax advisory services and support on business operation matters to the NGC Group.
  • Oversees monthly and quarterly corporation tax computations and documentation to ensure compliance with BIR statutory requirements.
  • Trains relevant staff on the overall concept of tax, legislation, and fundamentals of tax law to underscore their knowledge of accounting principles for accurate interpretation and competency development.
  • Assesses the company's financials and identifies opportunities to legally recover and/ or defer tax costs to increase profitability, reviews current and deferred tax provision.
  • Reviews and keeps abreast of changing tax laws to recommend and implement adjustments in tax costs and analysis of cost structures.
  • Assesses the impact of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate actions on the company's tax position.
  • Assesses and manages tax-related risks, including those associated with changes in tax laws or regulations.
  • Ensures the organization is adequately prepared for tax audits and disputes.
  • Develops and implements audit defence strategies to protect the organization's interests.
  • Represents the company during tax audits and investigations, working with external auditors and tax authorities to strategically manage and resolve tax disputes and negotiate settlements where necessary.
  • Reports tax-related matters and financial impacts to Vice President Finance Technology & Risk.
  • Manages relationships with key stakeholders at the Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) and other external bodies to address open matters and resolve disputes with BIR to reduce loss of benefits to NGC Group.
  • Acts as the key point of contact and support for local, regional and international taxation matters.
  • Provides input and feedback on commercial taxation modelling to legally achieve the highest level of tax efficiency.
  • Increases level of awareness and compliance across NGC Group of Companies to identify and manage the impact taxation has on the company.
  • Maintains organized and accurate tax records, including supporting documentation, workpapers and correspondence with tax authorities.
  • Identifies opportunities for and stays updated on advancements in tax technology and tools to increase efficiency, reduce errors and enhance tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Executes any other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for the position are:

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance, Management or other related degree including ACCA.
  • MBA, or related post graduate degree or FCCA would be a definite asset.
  • Seven (7) years' experience in taxation management of which at least five (5) years must be at a Leadership level.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the oil and gas industry.
