On behalf of our client we are seeking a Litigation Associate to join their team.

SUMMARY:

This position represents clients in court cases and other kinds of adversarial legal proceedings such as arbitrations, mediations and administrative law proceedings, and also oversees the work of junior attorneys and paralegals.

 Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Draft legal documents pertaining to various transactions
  • Draft and review contracts including settlement agreements
  • Prepare pleadings, statements, affidavits, and/or other legal documentation, as appropriate
  • Conduct pre-trial preparation including evidence gathering and interviewing witnesses
  • Represent clients in trial

 Education, Experience & Competencies: 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant post qualification experience is a must
  • A recognized Commonwealth designation
  • Experience in commercial matters including insolvency and banking experience
  • Advocacy skills and proven experience in conducting litigation to a high standard at various levels of court
  • Excellent legal research and legal opinion writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with clients, lawyers and colleagues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage a busy practice and ability to multi-task
  • The ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters
  • Excellent computer and technical skills
  • Ability to develop new client business
  • Demonstrates case management experience
  • Able to work on one’s own initiative in a highly-pressurized environment
