SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The University of Belize School of Medicine (UBSOM) invites applications for full-time, faculty positions as lecturer. The successful candidate will teach medical students, serve as a longitudinal facilitator in case based instruction in the first and second year medical curriculum, and participate in community outreach programs and continuing medical education courses. Individuals will also be expected to engage in medical education research and academic service. We are looking for potential lecturers in these areas:

1. Human Physiology
2. Human Embryology
3. Human Histology
4. Human Anatomy
5. Medical Biochemistry

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Providing direct student instruction as part of the core teaching faculty

2. Provide didactic & clinical curriculum development

3. Develop and sustain scholarship in an area appropriate to the Pre- clinical science

4. Assist in the completion and maintenance of accreditation requirements for the program

5.Supervise the development of new courses/curricula and the maintenance and evaluation of existing courses/ curricula

6. Counsel and advise UBSOM students and prospective students.

7.Participation in School Committees and student mentoring

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

▪ If the applicant is a medical practitioner, the applicant must be eligible for licensing with the Medical Council of Belize.

▪ Applicant should have at least three (3) years of experience as a lecturer at an accredited institution.

▪ If the applicant is not a medical practitioner, the applicant must have an advanced degree in either of the fields specified or one that is closely related.

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with the level of qualification and experience.
