CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Job brief

We are currently seeking a reliable Construction Manager to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the projects are completed safely, within an agreed timeframe and budget. As the construction manager you will collaborate closely with clients /stakeholders and Project managers.

 

Responsibilities

As a construction manager, you'll need to:

  • Plan and coordinate projects from start to finish.
  • Strategically plan all scope of works / tasks to ensure timelines are achieved.
  • Manage the construction site on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress.
  • Must be able to proactively identify, track and mitigate construction issues.
  • Check design documents with architects, surveyors and engineers.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed.
  • Monitoring of all materials ensuring stock is replenished in a timely manner to avoid shortage of materials.
  • Prepare internal and external reports.
  • Maintain regular communication and attend meetings with clients and their representatives to inform them of the progress on the project.
  • Communicate with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and others involved in the project.

Key Abilities and skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
  • Problem solving abilities.

Qualification & Experience

  • A national technician’s diploma or equivalent in engineering, plus 10 years in a similar position with at least five years in a supervisory capacity or
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a managerial capacity with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or managerial position in building Renovation, Retaining Walls, Slope Stabilization.
  • Valid driver's permit.
