Accounts Clerk                                    

Job brief

 

The Accounts Clerk reports directly to the Accounts Executive and supports various accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable and reconciliations, verifying receipts and preparing and maintaining records among other job obligations.

 

 

Responsibilities

                             

  1. Process and enter queries, OJT hours and payroll information into Peachtree
  2. Process officer payroll advances
  3. Prepare cheques for group medical, pension and union dues payments
  4. Perform daily reconciliation of membership sales
  5. Process CAC daily sales for deposits
  6. Enter CAC reports into Peachtree
  7. Update employee status on accounting databases
  8. Read and analyze incoming memos, submissions and reports in order to determine their significance and plan their distribution
  9. Perform general office duties such as, maintaining records management systems, preparing cheques and performing basic bookkeeping work

10. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person

11. Maintain accounting databases by entering data into the computer; processing backups

12. Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize organize and accomplish your work

13. Maintain accounting records by making copies; filing documents

14. Meet departmental KPIs as outlined

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or First Degree in Accounting.
  • Additional relevant certification
  • 3+ years of directly related work experience required
    • Sound knowledge of accounting standards and practices
    • Ability to multi task
    • Excellent Communication skills
    • Excellent clerical and organization skills
